A Nashville, Tenn.-based dentist arrested for throwing a house party has entered a guilty plea, WKRN reports.
Jeffrey Mathews, DDS, was arrested on three counts of violating public health orders after co-hosting a gathering with hundreds of guests.
Dr. Mathews "has accepted responsibility for his involvement" in the party and entered a conditional plea to one count of violating an emergency order, said Grover Collins, the dentist's attorney. Dr. Mathews will have to complete eight hours of "COVID-19 related" public service work and will be on three months of unsupervised probation, according to WKRN.
"My client is fully cognizant of the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic and is remorseful for his actions," Mr. Collins said in a statement.
Police also issued a warrant for the arrest of Christopher Eubank on the same charges, though he hasn't been located, as of Aug. 14.
