Louisiana dentists rebuild practice after hurricane causes $1M+ in damage

Daniel Weaver, DDS, and Stephanie Weaver, DDS, a married couple who own a dental practice in Lake Charles, La., have been "overwhelmed" by community support as they recover their practice from hurricane-induced damage, according to ADA News.

Hurricane Laura, which raged through southwestern Louisiana in late August, caused what Dr. Daniel Weaver estimates to be more than a million dollars in damages to the practice he shares with his wife.

"The roof had several penetration points and took water through the roof and windows," he rold ADA News. "We will be out of the office for a month or two."

The Louisiana Dental Association Foundation has launched a grant program to support Lousianans as they recover from the natural disaster.

"Disaster reveals the generosity of not only our friends and family, but of complete strangers,”" Dr. Stephanie Weaver told ADA News. "We have been overwhelmed by support from nearby states and learned that no one works harder than a lineman. We are grateful."
