New ADA president begins term

Daniel Klemmedson, DDS, MD, took over as the American Dental Association's new president Oct. 19, succeeding Chad Gehani, DDS, and becoming the organization's 157th president.

Before being elected to ADA presidency, Dr. Klemmedson served as the Arizona Dental Association's president, an ADA board of trustees member and a vice chair on the ADA Council on Dental Benefit Programs.

"The pandemic has offered insight to the interconnectedness of our society and the economic engines that keep it running. The same is true for the interdependent nature of dentistry," Dr. Klemmedson said during the ADA House of Delegates Oct. 19 virtual conference. "COVID-19 catalyzed a domino effect that demonstrated just how fragile our return to normal was. A return to normal should not be our goal. Better and stronger is clearly within our reach."
