Guardian partners with Virtudent, gives patients access to teledentistry

Boston-based teledentistry company Virtudent entered a partnership in which it will offer its teledentistry services to Guardian's approximately 7 million members, the companies said Oct. 27.

Teledentistry services — such as diagnostics, antibiotic prescription and consultations — can be accessed 24/7 by Guardian members through the companies' co-branded platform, Guardian Teledentistry.

"Our goal with this partnership is to provide an efficient and effective way for patients to access a dental support team at their fingertips," Virtudent CEO John Voith said in a news release. "Guardian Teledentistry will engage patients who do not have a dentist available in virtual dental consultations, which is especially important during COVID. The Virtudent support team will triage to the appropriate dentist or dental specialist without the member struggling on their own and lacking the appropriate continuum of care."
