A Bellingham, Wash., man was arrested after a dental practice alleged someone used its account with a medical supplier and one of its dentists' credit cards to order three laptops, according to a Nov. 14 report from The Bellingham Herald.
A dental assistant who works at a Blaine, Wash.-based practice filed a complaint Nov. 10 after noticing that two Microsoft Surface laptops were ordered on Nov. 7 and a third on Nov. 9. Each laptop cost $2,911.22 tand was paid with a credit card that belongs to one of the dentists at the practice and was shipped to a homeless youth center in nearby Coupeville, according to the probable cause statement.
The first two laptops were bought from a medical supply company that was able to stop the shipments, but the supply company that sold the third laptop was uncertain if it had shipped already, according to The Bellingham Herald.
A 19 year-old suspect was booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first- and second-degree theft, first-degree identity theft and second-degree computer trespassing charges.
