Penn Dental to form LGBTQ fund, research biases

Philadelphia-based Penn Dental Medicine is using a $50,000 donation to establish a fund with the goal of identifying LGBTQ-based biases in dentistry, according to a Jan. 20 news release.

One main priority of the LGBTQ+ Fund will be exploring research and programming that can create best-practice models and policy recommendations, the release said. These efforts are expected to include internal climate surveys of Penn Dental Medicine and bias training.

The school plans to work with the University of Pennsylvania's LGBT Center on the initiatives, the release said.
