Virginia medical clinic adds free dental care for people in need

The Living Water Community Clinic in Locust Grove, Va., recently added dental care to its list of free medical services offered to people in need.

The clinic has offered free medical care to residents since 2016. The recently constructed dental clinic features three operatories that include chairs, sinks, instruments and supply cabinets. Construction of the dental clinic cost between $140,000 and $150,000 with each operating room costing $26,000, mostly funded by individual donations.

The clinic will be staffed by volunteers, like the medical clinic, and led by John Sellers, DDS.

Both clinics are ministries of The Lake of The Woods Church. The medical clinic has seen more than 400 patients in more than 2,000 visits for chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiac care, liver disease and referrals for surgery. In order to qualify for free service, patients must be residents of Orange, Spotsylvania or Culpeper counties, be without medical insurance and have a household income 300 percent or less than the federal poverty level guidelines.
