KCU broke ground on the $80 million dental school in May and plans to open for student enrollment in 2023. The school expects to increase the community’s access to oral health care by providing 40,000 to 50,000 patient visits annually. The foundation chose to make the donation to the dental school because of its potential to provide the surrounding community well-trained doctors and dentists.

In 2019, the university announced plans to secure $40 million in funding to support construction of the school, which was delayed because of the pandemic.
