Ohio dental assistant wins $1M in COVID-19 vaccine lottery

An Ohio dental assistant has won $1 million in the state's Vax-a-Million vaccine incentive lottery, NBC affiliate WLWT reports.

Esperanza Diaz, a dental assistant in Butler County, Ohio, will soon be a millionaire.

"She came to the door and we handed her the phone and we said, 'Someone wants to speak with you!'" Ann O'Donnell with Gov. Mike DeWine's office told WLWT. "And she immediately recognized Mike DeWine and she got a huge grin on her face."

Ms. Diaz was overcome with emotion, Ms. O'Donnell said.

"I actually teared up. To be able to see that is extraordinary," Ms. O'Donnell said. "She just kept thanking him for coming up with the idea and thanking him for doing this."
