Michigan homicide victim identified as retired dentist

A Portage, Mich., homicide victim has been identified as 82-year-old retired dentist Thomas Aye, DDS, according to a July 27 article by WWMT, a CBS affiliate.

Dr. Aye's body was discovered inside his home July 25 by his daughter, who went to check on him after he missed an appointment. An autopsy conducted the morning of July 27 ruled his death to be a homicide. Police are currently investigating and declined to provide WWMT details about a possible suspect connected to the crime, according to the report.

Dr. Aye worked as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for 30 years before retiring in 2019. He was an oral surgeon at the Building Functional Esthetics practice in Kalamazoo for 12 years and was a former president of the Kalamazoo Valley District Dental Society.
