Connecticut dentist accused of submitting $200K in false Medicaid claims

A Connecticut dentist was arrested Aug. 4 and is being accused of billing Medicaid for more than $200,000 in services he didn't perform, The New Haven Register reported Aug. 5.

Christian O'Connor, DMD, of Renew Dental in North Haven, Conn., was reportedly arrested by inspectors with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Chief State's Attorney's Office.
He was charged with first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community and health insurance fraud.

Authorities say Dr. O'Connor submitted $200,484.52 in false claims to Medicaid and submitted claims to Connecticut's Department of Social Services that contained "false, incomplete, deceptive or misleading information."

Dr. O'Connor was released on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 18.
