'Excellent wages, flexible scheduling, work-life balance': 5 things a Florida dentist is doing to recruit staff

Delray Beach, Fla.-based Spodak Dental Group is hiring entry-level employees at $15 per hour — above the state's current minimum wage — among other things to attract new staff members, according to a Sept. 20 news release.

"It is important for us as a company to provide the very best environment for our team members so that they may take the very best care of our family of patients," said Craig Spodak, DMD, dentist at Spodak Dental Group. "To do that, we must provide them with excellent wages, flexible scheduling for a comfortable work-life balance, and a workplace that enables and encourages growth. So instead of waiting until 2026 to hire entry-level team members at $15 per hour, we are making that increase now."

In November 2020, Florida passed a new amendment that increased minimum wage to $10 an hour in September 2021. Minimum wage will then increase by $1 each year until it reaches $15 in 2026.

Instead of matching the state-mandated increases, Spodak Dental Group is exceeding them. The practice also provides training while working as part of the group's pipeline program where aspiring dental professionals who don't have the access or funds to pay for schooling can work at the office and learn all aspects of the field, as if they were in school, all while getting paid.
