39% of dentists 'somewhat confident' in economic recovery of their practices

About 39 percent of dentists are "somewhat confident" in the economic recovery of their dental practice, according to a recent poll by the American Dental Association. 

The poll was taken as part of the ADA's monthly "Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry" report for the week of Nov. 14. The Health Policy Institute surveyed 1,137 dentists about their confidence in economic recovery over the next six months.

Here is how confident dentists are in the economic recovery of their dental practices, the dental care sector and the U.S. economy:

Their dental practice

Very confident: 23.4 percent 

Somewhat confident: 39.1 percent

Neither confident nor skeptical: 18.8 percent 

Somewhat skeptical: 14.6 percent 

Very skeptical: 4.1 percent

The dental care sector 

Very confident: 13.2 percent 

Somewhat confident: 42 percent 

Neither confident nor skeptical: 23.5 percent 

Somewhat skeptical: 16.9 percent

Very skeptical: 4.4 percent

The U.S. economy

Very confident: 3.9 percent

Somewhat confident: 22.2 percent 

Neither confident nor skeptical: 18.4 percent 

Somewhat skeptical: 34 percent 

Very skeptical: 21.5 percent
