General practice dentists in private practice settings had schedules that were 85.7 percent full, and pediatric dentists in private practice settings had schedules that were 83.4 percent full.

The poll was taken as part of the institute’s monthly “Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry Specialist Report” report from February and surveyed more than 1,200 dentists.

The biggest issues preventing private practice dentists from having more complete schedules were no-shows and cancellations, the survey said.
