Here are five updates that have taken place in the dental industry since Feb. 7:
1. The University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry created a new training program to help alleviate the national dental assistant shortage.
2. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Imagen Dental Partners expanded its presence in Illinois with the addition of Winning Smile Dental Group in Evanston, Ill., and Generations Dental in Poplar Grove, Ill.
3. Sarasota, Fla.-based Dental Care Alliance added Evanston (Ill.) Dental Associates and East Village Dental Centre of Chicago.
4. The Illinois state legislature introduced a three-bill package that aims to increase accountability for dental payers.
5. An Illinois woman was charged with practicing dentistry without a license.
