A Connecticut dentist who is accused of more than $200,000 in Medicaid fraud, rejected a plea bargain offer, according to a Sept. 14 report by the New Haven Register.
Christian O'Connor, DMD, who practiced North Haven, Conn., was arrested in 2021 after allegedly billing Medicaid for approximately $200,484 worth of dental work that was never done.
The plea bargain included three years of probation, with up to five years in prison if the terms were violated, and would have required Dr. O'Connor to make an up-front payment of the more than $200,000 in claims he allegedly improperly submitted to Medicaid.
Dr. O'Connor has been charged with first-degree larceny and health insurance fraud. Both charges carry a maximum of 20 years in prison.
As a result of Dr. O'Connor rejecting the offer, his case was placed on the trial list, the report said.
