9 federal government, policy updates for dentists to know

Here are nine federal updates dental leaders should know:

1. The National Council of Insurance Legislators' executive committee provided final approval for model legislation for a dental loss ratio.

2. CMS issued a final rule April 2 that adds routine adult dental services as an essential health benefit under the Affordable Care Act.

3. A coalition of dental provider associations and oral healthcare organizations expressed its support for the Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Assistance Act.

4. President Joe Biden signed a $1.2 trillion spending package March 23 that provides funding for several federal agencies through the next six months.

5. A coalition of more than 120 organizations asked Congress to pause requirements for small businesses to file ownership reports under the Corporate Transparency Act.
