Woman arrested in stabbing of dentist at Louisiana dental office

A Louisiana woman was arrested Feb. 7 on charges of stabbing a dentist and attacking two other people at a dental office in New Orleans, nola.com reported Feb. 8. 

Sharon Stewart, 55, allegedly entered a dental office located on the 2100 block of Magazine St. on the morning of Feb. 7 and stabbed a dentist in the face. Ms. Stewart allegedly tried to attack two more employees afterward before fleeing the dental office on foot. 

New Orleans police arrested Ms. Stewart after searching the area and charged her with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of attempted second degree murder. She is also being held on charges of aggravated arson and aggravated battery in connection with two separate incidents that took place in January, according to a Feb. 7 news release from the police department. Bond has not yet been set, nola.com reported. 

The dental office had an armed guard Feb. 8 and declined to comment about the incident, nola.com reported.
