Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics recently experienced a data breach potentially affecting the information of its employees and patients.
Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics operates 22 offices in California.
The dental group said that it became aware of unusual activity that disrupted access to certain systems in June 2023. The company then launched an investigation, which revealed that an unknown actor obtained certain data from the practice's network. The practice worked with experts to conduct a review to determine what information was involved, which was completed Feb. 29.
The information that may have been involved in the incident includes identifying information, medical and treatment information, health insurance information and billing information, according to a March 7 notice on the practice's website.
Kids Care said it took steps to secure its network and also notified potentially impacted individuals and the FBI of the incident.
Kids Care said it is not aware of any misuse of the information potentially involved in the data breach.
