Pennsylvania woman charged with working as dental assistant without a license

A woman in Pennsylvania has been charged for pretending to be an advanced dental assistant, according to an April 7 report from the Bucks County Courier Times.

Rose Horne, 43, of Middletown, worked as an expanded function dental assistant at three dental practices in Pennsylvania last year without the required certifications, according to the state attorney general's office.

Ms. Horne assisted with X-rays, setting up instruments for dental procedures and reviewing post-op instructions with patients.

There are no records from the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry or the Dental Assistant National Board that show Ms. Horne is a licensed expanded function dental assistant or certified to use dental X-ray equipment, the report said.

Ms. Horne was arraigned April 5 on five felony counts of prohibited use of radiation source and three counts of misdemeanor for falsely claiming to hold a professional occupational license.
