Indiana Senate Bill 273 authorizes certified registered nurse anesthetists to administer moderate sedation, deep sedation or general anesthesia in dental practices while under direction and supervision of a physician, according to a May 26 news release.

Certified registered nurse anesthetists administer 50 million anesthetics each year in the country, subsequently monitoring the patient and are capable of intervening as necessary in emergent situations, according to the release.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
