Here are seven things to know:

1. The program provides dental professionals with evidence-based data to make sure that dental products are meeting ADA-approved standards.

2. AFI Certified is expected to become a new “gold standard” for dental products.

3. The categories and requirements to receive approval from AFI Certified are in development.

4.  At its launch, there will be a limited number of product categories the program will test, each having a different set of testing requirements.

5. The AFI will be responsible for the oversight of the program and product evaluation, while the ADA will support the business administration aspect of the program.

6. The certification process will take six to 10 weeks, unless the product requires clinical testing.

7.  AFI Certified is expected to launch in fall 2025.
