Air Force breaks ground on $88M dental treatment facility: 6 notes

The U.S. Air Force broke ground on a new dental treatment facility at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas, according to an Oct. 21 news release.

Here are six things to know:

1. Construction on the $88 million Dunn Dental Clinic began Oct. 9.

2. The facility will be used by the 59th Dental Group, the largest dental organization in the Air Force. 

3. The new center will replace the current facility, which opened in 1982.

4. The clinic will provide care to more than 250,000 Tricare beneficiaries. 

5. It will also host a two-year advanced education in general dentistry residency program. 

6. The facility is expected to be completed in November 2026.
