The organization sent out a memo earlier this month that it would likely have to cancel the event because it didn’t have enough funding. However, Health Net jumped in a donated $75,000 to make the event happen.
With the funding, California CareForce was able to get all the equipment needed to provide physician screenings, general medical exams, dental screenings, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, eye health exams, vision exams and custom prescription glasses.
Volunteer dentists can either register prior to the event or show up the day of to assist. Last year more than 1,000 professionals volunteered and treated around 2,000 uninsured and underinsured patients.
