California man pleads not guilty in dental office shooting

A former patient pleaded not guilty March 5 to murder and attempted murder charges in connection to a dental office shooting, NBC 7 San Diego reported March 5.

Mohammed Sabah Abdulkareem, 29, allegedly opened fire at Smile Plus Dentistry & Orthodontics in El Cajon, Calif., on Feb. 29. He was taken into custody later that night following a manhunt. Authorities said at the time of his arrest that Mr. Abdulkareem is believed to be a “disgruntled former patient.” 

Benjamin Harouni, DDS, was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot injuries to the body. Two other employees were injured.

Mr. Abdulkareem faces more than 100 years to life in state prison if convicted, the news station reported.
