The new program will help provide more oral health services to underserved and vulnerable populations in the Southwest Virginia region, according to a Jan. 18 news release.
Carilion Clinic’s pediatric practice serves more than 10,000 patients each year, and the program will allow for the expansion of both preventive and restorative pediatric dental care at the clinic.
The residency program, which will be located at the Carilion Clinic Dental Care in Roanoke, Va., will provide residents with opportunities in orthodontics, craniofacial structures, behavior management and caring for patients with special needs, the release said.
Delta Dental is also providing a $2 million endowment to help support the program annually.
