Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine has received a $15 million gift to create an oral health center for individuals with special healthcare needs.

The R. William Cornell, Jr., DDS and Chloe T. Cornell Oral Health Center for Individuals with Special Needs will provide pediatric dentistry, advanced general dentistry, craniofacial orthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgical services with medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social services and nutrition teams, according to an Oct. 13 news release from the university.

The gift is the largest in the dental school’s history and was made by R. William Cornell Jr., DDS, and his wife, Chloe Cornell, RN.

In addition, the gift will create the school’s first endowed professorship in more than 130 years.

The center will begin seeing patients in early 2027 with a dedicated five-room operatory startup space in the existing dental clinic, the release said.
