Shamis & Gentile, a class action law firm specializing in data breaches, is investigating a recent data breach at Tampa Bay Dental Implants & Periodontics in St. Petersburg, Fla.

A ransomware incident earlier this year affected the practice’s internal server that contained backups of electronic medical records, according to a notice on the practice’s website. The information that may have been affected by the incident includes names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, clinical history, treatment notes and financial information.

The breach affected 6,400 individuals, according to the HHS Department’s breach portal.
