CMS has launched its Office of Rural Health Transformation to strengthen rural health systems and expand access to care.

Four notes for dental leaders:

1. The new office will continue to carry out the work of the Rural Health Transformation Program, a five-year federal initiative established earlier this year.

2. CMS recently awarded $50 billion across all 50 states through the program.

3. The Office of Rural Health Transformation will help guide states in implementing their rural health transformation plans, according to a Dec. 29 news release.

4. Rural health initiatives among states include expanding access to services, modernizing rural facilities and technology, strengthening the clinical workforce and implementing care delivery and payment models.
