The Colorado Dental Board has suspended the dental license of Scott Hirsbrunner, DMD, a dentist in Monument, Colo., after determining that he deliberately violated the Colorado Dental Practice Act.
An investigation of Dr. Hirsbrunner’s dental practice, White Diamond Dental, found that he was not meeting the generally accepted standards for infection control, according to documents from the dental board.
Infection control violations at the practice included failure to conduct spore testing for instrument sterilization, improper instrument sterilization practices and failure to test dental waterlines.
In addition, Dr. Hirsbrunner owns and operates a medspa located adjacent to his practice, where he serves as medical director. Dr. Hirsbrunner performs procedures including Intense Pulsed Light Photofacials, laser hair removal and CO2 laser skin resurfacing. The dental board determined that the treatments fall outside of his scope of practice of a dentist.
The dental board suspended his license to practice as of Sept. 11.
