A Connecticut dental practice has agreed to pay $495,721 to settle allegations that it violated the False Claims Act.

From July 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2018, Norwalk, Conn.-based Advanced Dental Center allegedly paid a third-party patient recruiting company $120 whenever a Medicaid patient was referred to them and received services above routine preventative care.

This is the fourth settlement arising from ongoing investigations between the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the HHS Department and the FBI, according to a May 9 news release. The investigations are looking into alleged kickback schemes involving Connecticut Medicaid patients.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
