A Connecticut dentist has agreed to reimburse the state’s Medicaid program $150,000 to resolve allegations that she violated the False Claims Act.
Nazneen Jaffri, DDS, previously operated a practice in Norwalk, Conn. From Jan. 1, 2019, through April 24, 2021, Dr. Jaffri allegedly violated the False Claims Act by submitting claims to the Connecticut Medical Assistance Program for services rendered to Medicaid patients who were referred by a third-party patient recruiting company.
The settlement stems from larger investigations into alleged kickback schemes involving Connecticut Medicaid patients, according to a May 9 news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut. A Connecticut dental practice also recently agreed to pay $495,721 to settle similar allegations.
