Abe Abdul, DMD, created Dental Cupid, an online directory that matches patients with dentists and helps individuals avoid hospital emergency rooms amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The directory includes location, specialities, and what forms of insurance are accepted.
“The platform is free to hospitals, free to the patients, free to the dentists,” Dr. Abdul said.
The platform has helped patients in need, said Chris Baugh, MD, vice chair of clinical affairs in the emergency department at Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dental Cupid includes more than 9,000 dentists and has made over 4,000 connections between dentists and patients.
