Dr. Bushel was a dental officer during World War II and went into public health after serving. He launched one of the first campaigns to prevent cavities by adding fluoride to New York City’s water supply.
Dr. Bushel was an avid swimmer and leaves behind three children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His wife passed away in 2018.
