He then sold the materials to a third-party refinery for profit, obtaining $17,574 from the scheme, according to a June 6 news release from the Department of Justice.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 4. If convicted, Mr. Hanvey could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
