Dentists can calculate PPE burn rate with CDC tool

Dentists can use the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s spreadsheet-based tool to assist in planning and optimizing their use of personal protective equipment amid the pandemic.

The CDC’s Personal Protective Equipment Burn Rate Calculator allows dentists to enter their practice’s total number of patients and how many full boxes of each PPE type they have in stock. The tool then calculates the average consumption rate for each PPE type specified.

By accurately calculating their PPE burn rate, dentists can determine how long their supply will last and assess when to order more.
