Dentists downsizing staff, by specialty: ADA

More than 10 percent of dental professionals in most specialties have downsized their dental staff in the last month, according to an American Dental Association economic impact survey for the week of Jan. 18.

Survey respondents were asked, “In the last month, have you downsized your dental team to maintain the financial sustainability of your dental practice?”

Below are the percentage of respondents who said they had downsized staff in the last month, ordered from greatest to least.

Orthodontist: 13.8 percent
Endodontist: 13 percent
Periodontist: 12.1 percent
Pediatric dentist: 11.1 percent
Dental surgical specialist: 10.2 percent
General practice: 8.7 percent
Prosthodontist: 2.8 percent
