The average net income for general practice dentists has decreased nearly $60,000 over the past 16 years when adjusted for inflation, according to data from the American Dental Association.
In 2025, the average inflation-adjusted net income for dentists was $215,320, compared to $274,198 in 2010. The ADA attributed the drop in net income to practice expenses growing faster than reimbursements.
Average net income has decreased more than $15,000 in just the past two years.
The ADA’s Health Policy Institute collected data for its Survey of Dental Practice.
