A dental practice in Spanish Fork, Utah, was damaged by a gas explosion and fire, leading to about $3 million in damages, according to an April 11 report from ABC4.

The fire was contained in about 45 minutes, but the practice suffered significant smoke and water damage leaving the dental practice uninhabitable.

The explosion and ensuing fire were caused by a malfunctioning regulator in the medical gas closet, which led to the uncontrolled release of medical gases into the attic and created an “oxygen-rich environment,” according to investigators.

No injuries were reported, the report said.
