Few dentists ‘very confident’ in industry’s recovery — 7 things to know

Only about a third of dentists of all specialties are “very confident” in the recovery of the dental care sector, according to poll findings from the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

Results come from the ADA’s nationwide COVID-19 impact poll of more than 1,500 U.S. dentists for the week of Sept. 13.

Dentists were asked, “Looking ahead to the rest of this year, how confident are you in the recovery of the dental care sector in general?”

Below are the percentage of dentists who said they were “very confident,” per dental specialty:

Prosthodontist: 35.3 percent
Pediatric dentist: 31.3 percent
Dental surgical specialist: 30 percent
Orthodontist: 27.6 percent
General practice: 25.9 percent
Periodontist: 23.8 percent
Endodontist: 20.7 percent
