Oral care company Theodent has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its fluoride-free cavity varnish.

Rennou Varnish is the first fluoride-free cavity varnish that is authorized for professional use in the U.S., according to a June 16 news release from Theodent.

The clearance affirms that the varnish is equivalent to other varnishes that include fluoride in terms of safety and effectiveness.

Rennou Varnish will be launched for U.S. dental professionals in the fourth quarter of 2025, the release said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
