A former Illinois dental office employee recently pleaded guilty to accessing data from a computer after no longer working at the dental practice, Shaw Local reported Aug. 7.
Lizbeth Sanchez, 34, allegedly used a software program to access a work computer remotely without authorization. This was done to change employment and accounting records, as well as to order medical supplies without authorization.
Ms. Sanchez was also accused of performing teeth-whitening services without supervision from a licensed medical professional, according to police.
Ms. Sanchez was charged with two counts of practicing medicine without a license, but both charges were dismissed. She was also charged with three counts of computer tampering and a misdemeanor count of computer tampering.
Ms. Sanchez was sentenced to one year of supervision, 30 hours of public service, $400 in restitution and $614 additional fines.
