Former Harvard dental school dean dies at 83

Bruce Donoff, DMD, MD, who served as dean of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine for nearly 30 years, died at age 83. 

In addition, Dr. Donoff served as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and was an author of more than 100 scientific publications, according to a Jan. 12 news release from the American Dental Association. 

He served as dean of Harvard’s dental school from 1991 to 2019, during which time the school nearly doubled its research footprint and helped create the first dental school in Rwanda. 

Dr. Donoff received the ADA Community Preventive Dentistry Award in 2005, the release said.
