The Georgia Board of Dentistry has suspended the license of a dentist it says “poses a threat to the public health,” WSB-TV Atlanta reported April 1.

The board issued a summary suspension for the license of Justin Scott, DMD, on March 2, according to online records. A summary suspension means the suspension was made without a hearing.

The suspension order states that the board received reliable information that Dr. Scott’s treatment of multiple orthodontic patients was “unprofessional” and “fell below the standard of care.” The board made several allegations against Dr. Scott, including that he allowed unlicensed individuals to provide care, that his treatment of patients required corrections from other providers and that records for several patients failed to conform to set standards.

The board also stated that an investigation of Dr. Scott’s practices in Dunwoody and Atlanta found “failures of sanitary practice, sterilization and infection control.”

WSB-TV reported that Pure Dental Health in Atlanta is closed temporarily and that a sign on the practice’s door states that patients can call to request records.
