Suwanee, Ga.-based True Dental Care provided notice of a data incident.

The practice discovered that an unknown person or entity gained access to its computer system and placed a virus, encrypting the data on the system, according to an April 10 news release.

Data that was affected and viewed by the unauthorized party includes names, dates of birth, home addresses, phone numbers, and patient dental medical records.

The practice worked to restore its computer systems with a forensic firm.

At this point, True Dental is not aware of any misuse of the data, the release said.
