How often do dentists receive bonuses?

Most private practice dentists’ bonuses are paid out annually, while most corporate practice dentists’ bonuses are paid out monthly, according to DentalPost’s “2023 Dental Salary Survey” annual report.

DentalPost conducted its survey between July and September 2022 and received participation from 1,216 dentists. The survey addresses topics including compensation, job turnover and work environment. Read more about the methodology here.

Here is the frequency in which bonuses are paid out for dentists in private and corporate practices, according to DentalPost:

Weekly

Private practices: 3.25 percent

Corporate practices: 4.5 percent

Monthly

Private practices: 22.5 percent

Corporate practices: 45.5 percent

Quarterly

Private practices: 22.25 percent

Corporate practices: 41 percent

Annually

Private practices: 42.5 percent

Corporate practices: 4.5 percent

Irregular

Private practices: 9.5 percent

Corporate practices: 4.5 percent
