A bill has been introduced in the Idaho House of Representatives to consolidate the regulatory oversight of denturitry.

Currently, denturists in Idaho are governed and licensed by the independent Board of Denturitry, which is a five member board with three denturists, according to a March 19 report from the Idaho Freedom Foundation.

House Bill 935 eliminates the denturitry board and transfers authority to the Idaho State Board of Dentistry.

In addition, the bill expands the board of dentistry from eight members to nine. One of the nine members is required to be a licensed denturist.

The legislation aims to improve administrative efficiency, foster interprofessional collaboration and enhance regulatory consistency, according to the bill’s Statement of Purpose.
