A former dental office manager was sentenced to 36 months in prison for defrauding Indiana’s Medicaid program, the Post-Tribune reported June 18.
Justyn Arch, 39, previously worked as an office manager at Arch Complete Family Dentistry in Crown Point, Ind. His brother, Trystan Arch, managed the practice’s Chesterton, Ind., office.
The two brothers admitted to billing Medicaid for $365,000 from 2015 to October 2017 for surgeries that were never performed.
Justyn pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud, aggravated identity theft and tax evasion in February. He was sentenced to one year in prison for healthcare fraud and tax evasion, and 24 months in prison for aggravated identity theft. The sentences will run consecutively.
The two brothers were ordered to pay more than $365,000 in restitution to the state’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Justyn was also ordered to pay $155,371 in restitution to the IRS.
Trystan Arch is scheduled to be sentenced in August.
