The Des Moines Area Community College received a $250,000 grant to construct a new facility for its dental programs.
The school will build a 26,000-square-foot building on its Ankeny, Iowa, campus. The facility will include simulation labs, classrooms, a student lounge, sterilization and radiology suites and a public dental clinic, according to a June 13 news release from the college.
In addition, the college will increase its dental hygiene program enrollment by 25%.
Construction of the new center will begin this fall, which is replacing the current 8,000-square-foot facility.
The Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation provided the grant, the release said.
