A Missouri judge has awarded nearly $9.5 million to patients of a former dentist who unexpectedly closed his practice in 2024, Fox 4 reported Nov. 5.

Brian Jenkins, DDS, closed his practice in May 2024 due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

According to records from the Missouri Dental Board, Dr. Jenkins’ license was placed on probation in 2022 for three years after complaints were made concerning his care. The board revoked his license in November 2024.

Several former patients filed lawsuits after the practice closure, alleging that Dr. Jenkins caused permanent damage and/or disfigurement. The judge ruled in their favor, awarding 20 patients $473,445 each.
